The invisible Plane

I have been on holiday in Malaysia for the last week. I believe in doing work which you enjoy and I enjoy writing e-books. This week alone I published two e- books and got a review as well as been added by another author. It is not that I am bragging about it Instead what I am saying from this experience are three things
1. Use your time effiecentlymake it productively. What do I mean any minute you have use it to proof read and inspire. I got inspiration to write this part of my blog from the airport when my flight was delayed. The title above in the blog should be enough to inspire a book. The title is there. All I need to do is write and tidy up about my experience today at the airport. The idea behind it as I type and look out the window is the plane is delayed and there is no plane. However in thr figment of the mind the plane is there as we prepare to board only to cancel.
Point two on my list is don't give up despite how you feel. You may fel that things are not piecing together for you. But as you keep going small things can help to keep you going in your writing. Such as a simple review, it was only one review, but I was thrilled. It reminded me when I sold my first e book I thought it would never happen, but I did and you need to have continuing self belief.
Number 3 use your surroundings to give your inspiration let the books you read inspire you to develop and to write. I just started another children story nad I don't know where it will take me. The reason it got started was I was having coffee and the surroundings gave me inspiration and the past books I read as a child helped.

Audiobooks

Dear Reader I am in the process of trying audibook to try to promote my books . There are free sites which allow to upload your audio book. I am going to try to upload one of my books and see what happen. I have read the script of my Abu the Desert Fox and Fudge: A Dogs life.  It is a simple recording with no sound effects and only uses a Dictaphone. There are two websites which I am planning to use. One was recommended by Smashwords.com, which is free to use and the other is CDbaby, but you have to pay to use that one.
I plan to use the free Audiobook site, I have already started the profile and will link it to my E-book profile.

On another subject, I got my first review and a fellow author liked my Abu e-book. I  am planning to add other writers and try to get more reviews for my books.

Stepping up the PR of your book

Promoting your book is the most important aspect of selling it. I have have used a simple website to publish my e-books and I follow their formatting procedure. What makes this website good are the  distribution channels which allows your book to be sold on Apple, Barnes and Noble, Sony and their own website. Since I started over a year ago I had 300 click on my books and sold books.

 Meaning that if you create a book then it can be sold. I am now at a stage to try to promotoe my books. I have one book in particular I want to promote and now I am going to try to take promotion to a higher level. I will let you know how it goes and what I am doing. Follow this post.

Back to writing

Its been a while since I blogged. I had been busy getting back into teaching and settling in. In addition I had been following the rollercoaster markets.
I am not going to write today about the markets or about gold. I am writing to let you know that I am back to writing my e books. Its been. A few months since I last wrote and the same could happen to you.
Today inspiration came to me in the most unusual place the classroom. As I was supervising my year 11. I saw a notepad and I felt the urge to write. I wrote three small stories in space of an hour and now I started a more serious book.
Inspiration can happen anywhere and at anytime. What I discovered today that I need to carry a small notepad around in case the muses shone down on me like today. My advise to you is to be patient about an e book and carry a notepad around so are ready for a visit by the muses at anytime. I will more this week as my e book takes shape. Remember inspiration can come in many shapes and disguises, just be prepared for it. It will only visit for a short while.

Halong Bay in Vietnam

I am just back from a holiday in Vietnam. We only went to Halong Bay in the time we had. It was worth it in every bit.
The negative side of the trip was seeing rubbish in an UNSECO site. It was clear from the floating remnants of Rubbish on the water. That Vietnam is a developing country.
On board the junk we were right near beside the engine room, but on a positive note, the engine was off at night only it was used to generate electricity. The cockroaches were good company in the shower, but I did not see much. They did get into the toiletries, so when you leave it might be worthwhile to hake your bag out on the bed so you can see them against the white.
On the positive side, the wildlife was fantastic. You could see the sea eagles catching fish. The caves such as amazing cave was beautiful especially with the coloured lights inside. The food was good and included in the price, so was the kayaking.
Basically it was not expensive. We spent about 500 dollars for the junk trip which included the caves, food and kayaking for two nights. The price also included two night stay in a 3 star hotel in Hanoi and a taxi to the airport. Beer and food in the tourist area of Hanoi was also cheap when compared to Thailand or Malaysia..  Overall it is a worthwhile country to visit and the trip to Halong is well worth it.

Dow Drops 512 points!!!! Economic Depression is around the corner

Today I woke up to the news that the Dow Jones Index dropped 512 points and I am asking what the hell is going on. Gold is at 1661 per oz and the Dollar is at an all time low. Three Eu countries have received bailouts and now there is talk of Italy and Spain defaulting. The papers are pointing out the drop in the Dow was based on the Italy and Spain may having to face the fact they need bailouts. But we also make the point about Washington and how they had too much "jaw jaw". In my view Gold is near to its fair value. I had back in 2008 predicted that it would hit about 1700. It seemed to get there faster thanks to the politicians in Washington and the wars which are creating debt in America and turmoil in the world.
Even after yesterdays dip in the Dow Jones the Asian Markets are following the same pattern. In my view it is the start of the chain reaction for a double dip recession. That is nonsense we are on the way for a depression. This reminds me so much of the Weimer and the Stock Market crash when prices were too high in shares and they just crashed due to a so called " price adjustment" Germany printed more money which created hyper inflation and gold was more valuable as a payment source for war reparations. Doesn't it sound all too similar to what is happening now?

Creating E-Book Covers

When I first started out publishing e-books. I found it hard to know where to start. I usually had to go to various websites to gleam the information needed.

What was most frustrating was trying to design a cover fr my e-book. I tried various free online websites, but I found most of them were hard to use or lack the flexibility in how you wanted to layout your cover. For instance on doing a quick search, this website came up. On a quick look I found it was a little hard to follow.

They are selling a full version on a monthly basis and they do offer a free version. I find with free version they do not give the freedom to design as you want.

However I found an excellent solution to his problem. Everyone has a camera of one sort or another. Everyone has Microsoft office. In Microsoft office you have the publisher which allows to create leaflets and documents. I found that taking a photo which you have taken yourself and adding it to a blank page on publisher, then add a text box is just as easier than spending hours on the Internet looking for a cover maker. Especially if you are just starting out, I find using publisher as the cheapest and easiest option.
